1.The best shopping place for visitors in Luang Prabang would be the night market along the street of the Royal Palace Museum.
2.Most shops are closed on Sundays.
3.Examine valuable items like gemstones and high value carpets in case they are counterfeit.
4.Buy souvenirs in markets where you can get good bargains.

One of the things I try in every country is their coffee. And the Lao coffee happens to be one of the best in the world. According to research, Laos is the best place to grow coffee among Southeast Asian countries. Itś no surprise they produce good quality coffee as a result. So why not try and buy it as souvenirs? Try Laos Arabica and Robusta because of their high quality.
If you love collecting painting, you can easily pick up one at night markets. But if you desire some type of high quality paintings, you may better go to galleries or exhibition.
3. Elephant items
Fascinated by elephants?Aside from the fact that you can find in this nation one of the only breeds of elephants in the world, you can always buy some stuffs or items along the streets of Laos with the elephant print of it.
4. Wood Carving
Never have I discovered such meticulous wood carvings in my travels in Southeast Asia than the ones in Laos. Most of them contain historical values matched by the skillful Lao handicraftsmenship, wood carvings can be easily found at local shops in Luang Prabang, Vientiane or Pakse.
5. Silver jewelry
The best silver works are found in Luang Prabang that are made by hand. You can buy them, be it in silver and gold at a much reasonable price in most jewelry shops in Laos. Such delicate souvenirs for your friends and relatives, aren they?
Shawl, this age-old cotton fabric production is one way of wearing silk or cotton woven that is blended with brocading. This is one item that can be bought at every corner of Laos, they are shown in prosperous markets of Vientiane, Luang Prabang, or local markets around the country.
Handicrafts will always be present in any Lao markets. Visitors can find some unique mementos like bags, rings, hats, even accessories.
8. Lao clothes
Apart from their exotic designs and prints , I find Lao clothing to be very convenient and comfortable for the type of weather in Southeast Asia.
9. Brocade weaving
Brocade weaving is part of Lao ethnic people’ life. Distinctive patterns of pagoda, tower, elephants or swastika are just some of these examples.
They say that Laos has some of the finest silk and cotton weavers in the world. And I guess anyone who visit Laos will agree to it. Who wouldn’t be impressed with their intricate and meticulous details , demonstrating its high quality craftsmanship?
11. Silk Sinh
This traditional skirt looks like our malong in the Philippines. This can be quite useful and a graceful gift for your girlfriends, aunts and relatives that they wear on special occasions.
12. Snake whiskey
This snake whiskey reminds me of tequila with worms. Such type of drink with exotic animal on it looks like some sort of therapeutic medicine for me. It tasted really strong with some snaky strangeness flavor.
I found this store at the Patuxai Arch or the Arc de Triomphe of Vientiane. So, if you consider adding Lao magnets or patches yo tour travel collection, you can pass by here when in Vientiane before heading home.
